A NOTE FROM FOUNDER, CLARE BEST:

We absolutely recognise the unique need for Deaf parents raising Deaf children to have a strong, dedicated support network—one that reflects their lived experience and cultural identity.

While Clare brings her expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf, she is also a hearing mother of a deaf child - and deeply acknowledges that her experience is rooted in the hearing perspective. She will never fully understand the intricate journey of Deaf parents raising Deaf children.

For this reason, Clare and the Raising Bilinguals team intentionally focus on supporting hearing parents raising deaf children, ensuring their offerings stay true and are uniquely for that niche community.

That said, Clare is actively engaging in conversations with Deaf parents and community leaders to explore setting up initiatives to support Deaf parents in a way that is both respectful and culturally aligned.

We value this space deeply and remain committed to ensuring representation, authenticity, and meaningful collaboration in all that we do.   x

Q: Is THE RB CLUB suitable for parents of deaf children past the early years?

A: Absolutely! Whether your child is a baby, toddler, in school or somewhere in between, THE RB CLUB offers support, resources, and community for each stage of the journey!

Q: I’m not fluent in a signed language —can I still join?

A: Yes! THE RB CLUB does not teach or require any level of sign to be involved! It's designed to meet you where you are and provide resources around HOW to use signed languages to support our deaf kids. All levels are welcome! 

Q: What happens after I sign up?

A: You’ll get immediate access to our RB CLUB community, an email welcome pack, as well as all past resources released - including our meetup recordings and Q&As threads. For VIP's -you will also get an invite to join a group onboarding call with Clare to meet and greet others, ask any and all the questions and learn how to get the most out of our community!

Q: I don't live in Australia. Is the RB CLUB still relevant for me?

A: 100%. The aim of RB CLUB is to build a growing, global community of like-minded parents passionate about the bilingual journey. There is nothing Auslan specific and you can adapt resources to suit your needs and circumstances!

Q: Can I switch between Standard and VIP memberships? 

A: You are able to upgrade or downgrade memberships at anytime with the month-by-month payment plan. However, with all yearly memberships, these are non-refundable and can only be changed after the period has finished.
