FAMILY & FRIEND EDUCATION SESSIONS
For your deaf or hard of hearing child's loved onesÂ
Need some support communicating your deaf child's needs to your family & friends?
---
You're not alone.
In fact many parents face resistance, outdated beliefs and even a lack of action from their 'village' when trying to educate them on the needs of their deaf child.
That’s exactly why I developed my family & friends education sessions, to support the ones your deaf child loves the most. Designed to provide simple, yet powerful knowledge, tools and support for your 'village' while taking the mental load off you!

Â
Why is an 'aligned village' so critical?
Â
Well let's face it: The research doesn't lie (nor does the anecdotal evidence I've collected from nearly 14 years teaching deaf and hard of hearing kids!)...
And what they both tell us is that the strength and involvement of the community surrounding a deaf child is a game changer when it comes to their future success. Â
But as a parent, trying to educate and convince family members to step up can feel exhausting—especially when they are still moving through their own journey of acceptance and understanding.Â

But - what if instead of constantly explaining, reminding, and pushing for change, you had someone with professional authority and over 14 years of experience in the deaf space doing the heavy lifting for you?
Â
That’s exactly what these education sessions have been designed to do.
Â
As a parent of a deaf child, do you ever feel...
Â
✔️ Frustrated by the lack of action or awareness in your deaf child's village?
✔️ Exhausted by having to explain the same things over and over like a broken record?
✔️ Worried that your child is being left out of family events?
✔️ Unsure of how to communicate the importance of bilingualism in a way that actually 'sticks'?
✔️ Alone in carrying the full weight and mental load of your child’s advocacy?
Â
My tailored and individualised sessions help bridge this gap between your child and their village in an intentional, supportive and impactful way —without you having to do all the work!
Â
They also...
🤍 Take the pressure off you to educate everyone yourself.
🤍 Help shift outdated beliefs & overcome family resistance.
🤍 Teach your family practical ways to actively support your child.
🤍 Provide clear, easy-to-understand insights into deaf and hard of hearing development.
🤍 Build an inclusive environment where your child feels truly seen & understood (and you feel supported!)
Â
COUNT ME IN!
I want you to think of this education session as an essential onboarding guide for your deaf child’s village.
Â
Each participant will receive:
Â
🔥 A crash course in deaf child development (so they get it without you having to keep explaining).
Â
🔥 Practical communication tips (so they can engage with your child in ways that actually work).
Â
🔥 Insight into your child’s experience (so they understand what inclusion really means).
Â
🔥 Clear action steps (so they know exactly how to support your child moving forward).
Â
And the best part? You don’t have to teach any of it yourself.

How It Works.
Â
Â
Step 1: Parent Clarity SessionÂ
✅ Before the training, I will meet with you - the parent / carer - for a 1 hour online consult to fully understand your child’s specific needs, challenges, and strengths. This ensures the education session is customised and relevant to their unique situation and circumstances.
Â
Step 2: Development of Training
✅ I take everything gathered from the parent clarity session and develop an educational training tailored specifically to your child and your family dynamic to ensure we can achieve the vision and outcomes you have.
This includes:
✔ Building customised resources aligned with your child's profile
✔ Creating a follow-up resource package to provide ongoing support for your family & friends
✔ Developing a practical toolkit your village can implement instantly
Â
Step 3: Live Training (1.5Â hours)
During the session, we’ll touch on key topics such as:
✔ Powerful communication strategies – impactful ways to connect and engage with your deaf child
✔ Language tips and tricks – How to naturally support both spoken and signed languages in the home
✔ Acoustic considerations – Understanding how background noise impacts access to communication
✔ Common myths and misconceptions – Busting the biggest misunderstandings about deaf and hard of hearing children
✔ Education on devices and their limitations – The ins and outs of technology and devices (and what they can and CANNOT do)
✔ Family gathering support –Diving into the common scenarios for deaf children at family gatherings - and how to prevent them.
✔ The 'deaf child in a hearing family' scenario – A very unique experience that requires understanding and knowledge around 'village' inclusion and accessÂ
✔ Auditory fatigue and other DHH-related behaviors – Recognising and addressing signs of exhaustion, overload and dysregulation in our deaf kids!
đź’ˇ And much more!
This session is designed to be interactive, practical and empowering, giving your loved ones the knowledge, confidence and tools they need to actively support and include your child.Â
*All trainings are NDIS friendly and eligible for self and plan-managed families.

"Sometimes we can say ALL the things to our family, but they really need to hear it from someone who has the knowledge - and quite frankly isn't us! PLUS the fact that Clare's a mother of a deaf child herself is a huge bonus! Loved this course"
~ JESS - Mother of a Deaf child
Â

"You know when people ask you questions about your Deaf child and their devices or what they can access, but you can't find the right words? Well just handball that over to Clare! She's amazing. 10/10 highly recommend!"
